July 19,2021
All of us, at some point in our life might have fainted. I had an episode of fainting very recently which got me to learn & understand why exactly this happens to us. Fainting is most commonly caused by a temporary glitch in the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system regulates automatic bodily functions, such as heart rate and blood pressure. An external trigger can temporarily cause the autonomic nervous system to stop working properly, resulting in a fall in blood pressure and fainting. The trigger may be:
• An Unpleasant Sight
• Heat
• Sudden Pain
• Coughing
• Sneezing
• Laughing
• Sitting or Standing Up Suddenly
The most common reasons why one faints is due to
1. Low Blood Pressure
2. Dehydration
3. Diabetes
4. Neurological Conditions
5. Influence of Medication
6. Heart problems
O Weakened Heart Chambers
O Narrowed or Blocked Blood Vessels to the Heart
O Structural Problems with the Muscles of the Heart
O An Abnormal Electrocardiogram
7. Reflex anoxic seizures
