What Happens when we don’t Sleep

We are all aware that sleeping is an integral part of the human body, both physically and mentally, but do you know the full extends. Let’s take a look at how the body reacts after long stretches without sleep.

24 Hours

Scientist believes that someone who has not slept in 24 hours would behave the same as someone who has a blood-alcohol content of 0.10%. This includes impaired memory, declining hand –eye coordination and deterioration in decision making.

36 Hours

The body has the first signs of damage when high levels of inflammatory markers are introduced in the blood stream which in the long run can lead to cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure. The individual would feel a higher version of the above mentioned functioning defects.

48 Hours

The body automatically decides to shut itself in small periods without the user realizing, it’s called microsleep and the body dozes off during daily chores. The period of these snoozes might just be in the range of seconds to half a minute at tops.

72 Hours

The human body is not crafted to handle stress of this level and starts to decline in basic functioning. A simple conversation itself becomes a strain. Small levels of hallucination may also occur; both visual and audio.
