Pulse Oximeter: Essential Things to Know

The age-old question of nature versus nurture always comes into play in most genetic discussions and to finally put this question to rest, a PhD candidate in the Bosco Lab at the Geisel School of Medicine, Julianna Bozler has come up with findings for her experiment. For the experiment, two sets of fruit flies were being monitored - one which was introduced to wasps and the others who weren’t. The wasp exposed group had to face trouble as the wasps deposited their eggs into the larvae of fruit flies thereby killing it and later the flies discovered that if they lay their eggs on food containing ethanol the wasps do not touch them as they could not survive. The fruit flies continued this tradition for five generations even after the wasps were removed from the equation. This shows us that certainly personalities and behaviour patterns that we portray are as a direct result of the gene pool and parental environment can have a profound impact on future generations.
The proficient understanding of the above-mentioned facts add to the increasing influx of tourists that aim for medical tourism in Kerala and one of the very first steps that need to be implemented is the use of medical disposables such as probe covers into the general system of health care.
