Pulse Oximeter: Essential Things to Know
July 19,2021
All of us have obviously heard of the tough flexible tissue that holds our bones together or in common words, ligaments. If you have ever for a long period in your life played any sport or had indulged yourself in any physical activity you would have at least once pulled a sprain or had some issue in regards to your ligament. It’s nothing to worry about as the human body is designed that way. When the ligaments are stretched beyond a measure there exists a strong stress on them and there is a possibility for a wear or tear. These injuries are common around the knee and ankle as these are the areas where there is maximum tension when you land awkwardly and there is a higher chance of twist or turn. The injuries can be divided into 3 grades
• Grade 1 Sprain: They usually heal within weeks. Remedies would just involve icing the injury, anti-inflammatory medicines, physiotherapy exercises and resting from any painful activity.
• Grade 2 Sprain: They are a bit more concerning. They would need load protection or supportive taping during initial healing stages. The healing time would be roughly between 6-12 weeks. In most cases you can continue your old physical activity once you are completely healed.
• Grade 3 Sprain: A very big issue and should be immediately consulted by an Orthopaedic Surgeon to check whether early surgery is required or not. Your healing time will be much more than just 12 weeks and in very serious case it could even last 12 months before returning back to normal activities.
