Issues and Challenges Faced by Medical Tourism

Medical tourism is a combination of both the healthcare and tourism sector. It is growing everyday internationally and domestically. However, this industry is facing many issues and challenges. We have listed a few of these problems in this article.

Follow-up problems are also an issue.It is quite difficult in medical tourism as there are not well-established follow-up cares in medical tourism.Language and cultural barriers are also an issue, as the medical staff will have trouble understanding the language of the patients. There will also be lack of infrastructure where people are travelling to a developing country. Lack of professionalism and behavioral aspect can also be expected. There are difficulties in promotion, rules and regulations. The chances of organ trafficking also increase.

The above mentioned facts add to the increasing influx of tourists who aim for medical tourism in Kerala, where one of the first steps to be implemented is the use of medical disposables like probe covers into the health care system.
