Home remedies for dry cough

Cough is a common reflex that occurs when a foreign body enters the back of your throat. It is a signal from your body to clear the breathing tract. There are basically two types - dry cough and productive cough.

Dry cough is the more irritating of the two. It occurs mainly due to the inflamation of trachea. One must always keep oneself hydrated thereby keeping the mucous membrane moist. Certain homemade tips for dry cough are:

1. Turmeric milk: Drinking a glass of milk with half teaspoon of turmeric twice a day will help remove that stubborn cough.

2. Honey and cinnamon: Drinking a  mixture of one-fourth teaspoon honey and one fourth teaspoon of cinnamon with water twice a day will work wonders.

3. Black pepper: Arguably the most simplest home remedy. Mixing half a teaspoon of black pepper with ghee and having it on a full stomach helps congestion and clears the throat.

4. Pomegranate juice: It is mostly a remedy for kids. Pomegranate juice and A Pinch of Ginger will help remedy dry cough.

5. Spiced tea: Ginger powder and a pinch of cinnamon with some cloves along with your tea is a great way to get rid of this bad cough. It also helps in drying up a runny nose.
