Fish Skin to Heal Burns

Those who have suffered second and third degree burns would know the time taken for it to heal and the indescribable pain one endures. Among the more traditionally used practice is the use of pig tissue to heal the burn. This is because the pig tissues transfer a healing protein known as collagen to the victim’s skin helping the burn areas to recover faster. In Brazil however they have adopted a new technique of using the tilapia’s fish skin for treating burns. The sterilized tilapia skin is used to kill off any viruses and is relatively less expensive and can be refrigerated for up to two years. The functionality is the same principle as that of the pig tissue. The tilapia’s fish skin is part of the fish-farm waste that is created in excess and therefore is easily available. The procedure has already been practiced on several victims and they all have shown promising results. The practice can be done on anyone irrespective of age and on any part of the body.
