Contagious Yawns

There will have definitely raised instances in one’s life where we might have dragged into another man’s yawn or someone trailing on our yawn but why does this reflex occur. Well, in all honesty there are certain responses that are built in that they don’t even qualify as reflex and no one is really joining in on another yawn, we are not copying another man’s yawn, the process just happens and we have very little control or knowledge of it, the moment we are conscious about the yawn we snap out of it. People yawn when they are tired, sleepy or at a particular temperature zone. When the ambient temperature approaches body temperature or goes down near freezing, we yawn less. An actual experiment in the University of Oxford proved that yawns are not in fact contagious. It also revealed that there are parts of the amygdala—a brain area associated with fear and heightened attention—light up in response to images of yawning but the professor in charge also said that his findings could in fact be wrong and it might well be contagious as per the evidence we are witnessing first hand. The only people who are exempted from the contagious yawning are those with higher levels of autism or schizophrenia and children under 4 years.
