Color Green to Cut Cravings

A study led by the University of Plymouth in association with the University's School of Psychology, and the European Centre for Environment and Human Health at the University of Exeter has confirmed that being able to see green spaces from your home and work environment helps fight against the cravings for alcohol, cigarettes and harmful foods. Irrespective of the activity that you have been engaged in the constant visual simulation to the color green has its benefits. The study was first published in the journal Health & Place which investigated the relation between craving for a range of appetitive substances and the experiencing of negative emotions or feelings. The results showed that having access to any sort of green environment such as a garden had a lower craving strength and frequency. The same effect was also felt by those residents who have access to the same. Dr Sabine Pahl, Associate Professor (Reader) in Psychology said that “showing that lower craving is linked to more exposure to green spaces is a promising first step and can be used to help people withstand problematic cravings, enabling them to better manage cessation attempts in the future”

The proficient understanding of the above-mentioned facts add to the increasing influx of tourists that aim for medical tourism in Kerala and one of the very first steps that need to be implemented is the use of medical disposables such as probe covers into the general system of health care.
