Diabetes is one of the leading diseases in the world, affecting a large portion of the human population. Even though several steps have been taken in regards to the betterment of those affected, there has not been such an advance till recently in 2016 when the US Food and Drug Administration approved the world’s first artificial pancreas, a device capable of monitoring blood sugar and automatically supplies insulin to the body. It has been mentioned as the biggest step towards diabetes management in the recent years. In 2017 this artificial pancreas will become a life-changing milestone and is assured to save lives ordering in the millions. There are also rumors circulating on the possible collaboration with Google’s patented contact lens which can measure blood glucose levels from the tears of the patient. Google is still silent on the association between themselves and a company named Novartis which might have this device available in trials by the end of 2017.
